a nissan slammed into a guardrail. the driver of this car fled and skimmed the pileup over damaging the front of that vehicle. when it was over three people were taken to the hospital, one had critical injuries. it is 5:01 let's go back to the desk. one person was killed in a shooting four others were wounded. tara moriarty is in vallejo and tara, police are still out there? >> reporter: yes, police secured the scene but investigators left because they needed to interview victims who were in the hospital. crime scene detectives are marking shell casings as well as the garage, detectives have been in there looking for clues and that's where they were when somebody walked up and started shooting. the violence broke out 8:30

last night on humboldt streets. one man in his 20s was killed. another person was rushed to the hospital and three other gunshot victims were driven there shortly after the shooting. >> multiple casings spread about the area again, we are processing the scene and we are taking as many precautions we can. >> now police were able to secure a search warrant. they have sifted through the area and we didn't believe they have actually found anything inside that car but they are looking for clues, weapons anything that might help this investigation. >> reporter: we did learn that for you of these gunshot victims were men, one was a woman. we will stay on top of this and try to figure out how it all

unfolded as well as figure out a motive here. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 morning news. police in south san francisco are seeking the whereabouts and welfare of a man and woman. the two were involved in a disturbance near fso. the couple have a child together and live in the sacramento area. police want to make sure that couple is okay. if you have any information please contact south sanford police. it happened at salon no way -- solano way and questions are being raised about the safety of that intersection. >> reporter: this morning the boy's mother is calling for improvements to this intersection. her son was trying to get across when he was struck by a car and suffered a serious head

injury. this morning, joey is in the hospital suffering from a critical injury. he was walking to basketball practice 1:30 in the afternoon when the incident happened. he was thrown 30 feet in the air during impact. the driver of the car stayed here and cooperated at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment. while it is unclear how fast the car was going, the boy's mother said cars go right through the crosswalk and she believes it needs stop signs to protect pedestrians. >> they run through the crosswalk and they speed and it took something like this and i hope the city of concord finally wakes up and does something about that intersection because there will be more lives that will be in

. welcome back, it is now 5:13 and there is new video on christopher dorner killing three people. christopher dorner went to a sporting good store just two days before the killing began. tmz obtained this video showing christopher dorner buying scuba diving equipment. christopher dorner tried to steal a boat in san diego a few days later. the massive manhunt may be shifting south of the border. authorities now has evidence that christopher dorner may

have fled to mexico and may have had help from a friend identified only as jy. he has been on the run for more than a week and he could be anywhere. we are following several new developments following the latest test by north korea. kyla campbell reports in our washington d.c. newsroom and there are more threats out of north korea, kyla? >> reporter: they warn they will move forward with second and third measures of quote, greater intensity. now the united nations council has scheduled an emergency meeting in less than an hour. the foreign ministry claims they did not violate any laws and today's test was a self- defense measure. immediately united nations condemned the move and only the major ally, china opposed it.

past statements on israel iran and nuclear weapons. they pressed senator chuck hagel for more of his personal finances. a cruise ship is expected to be towed to alabama instead of new mexico. strong currents caused the ship to drift north. triumph became stranded and more than 3,000 passengers are on board and are sick. they are dealing with no working toilets and that ship should arrive in mobile alabama on thursday. this action comes after a tanker hit a tower on the bridge last month. the ship had a quarter of a mile visibility. the harbor safety committee has made a list of recommendations including ships sailing north under of the bridge when visibility is about a mile and

a half or less. the olympic committee has decided to drop wrestling from the olympic program. it removes one of the oldest olympic sports from the 20/20 olympic games. however they found declining interest in wrestling in recent years. now eliminating one sport allows them to add another one later this year. they are celebrating asian heritage. jeremy lynn will face his former teammates as a member of the rockets. he will take part of the question-and-answer session after the game is over and former assistant assembly woman will be there as well. a lot of people look up to him. let's check on sal with traffic, sal? northbound 280 is looking good getting up to highway 17

with no major problems. also the morning commute is looking good if you are driving at the westbound bay bridge toll plaza and we are getting conflicting information about a power outage and pg&e said the power outage in oakland hills near redwood road would not be back on until 8:00 but some customers are are aring their power is back on. also it looks good between panola and richmond, let's go to steve. >> some low clouds are back, low cloud deck patchy fog, yesterday we had clear smooth sailing and a few high clouds slipping down from the north. it will still be nice today just a little bit cool with the addition of coastal fog which pops up pretty fast. it was not there yesterday but it is here today. it is a slight offshore breeze but closer to the coast and bay more of a westerly breeze.

patchy fog, lots of sun. temperatures 31, livermore 31 and 33 half-moon bay at this time. fso 42 with that low cloud deck and more of a westerly breeze. it is not as strong as yesterday, that is for sure but the combination of the two, yesterday closer to the coast allows for more of a westerly breeze and it will ramp up and with us. it is slightly cooler coast and bay once the fog burns off. we have 60s for some, about a 10-degree spread closer to the coast and bay, yesterday was warmer coast and bay, today will be a little different. there is too much of a westerly breeze in place, half-moon bay san francisco, redwood city, menlo park 62. not much change use it, it does

time now 5:23, a long time police chief has died while visiting his family in southern california. he retired in 2010 from the police department ending a long career that spanned 50 years. at the time he retired he was the longest serving police chief in california. san francisco police said two officers were attacked while trying to break up a fight. it happened at 7:00 a.m. officers saw two men fighting and tried to break it up when one of the men's friend knocked out one of the officers and broke the officer's nose. he was arrested for assault and resisting arrest. they found a baby alligator at a couple's home during a reason arrest. officer's first stopped the couple in their car after authorities suspected them of having marijuana.

they found the marijuana in the car and a handgun. after that arrest they found more marijuana and the baby alligator in their home. the alligator was turned over to human service -- humane animal services. various bird advocates found this bird causes angel wings. it causes them to stick straight out and they lose the ability to fly. feeding seeds is a less damaging alternative. what are you looking at, sal? we are starting off with 280 northbound getting up to highway 17 with no major problems so far. also the drive on the sunole grade looks the same as you passing mission boulevard. i just got off the phone with pg&e and there are 986

bart is on time so far according to bart dispatchers. this is a look at the commute on interstate 880 in oakland and this traffic is moving along nicely, it is 5:30 let's go back to dave and pam. police are looking for suspects in a terrifying shooting. 1 person -- one person was killed four others wounded. it is still not clear what led to the gunfire but vallejo police are looking for evidence on the scene and we will have more coming up at 6:00. a man in oakland led police on a chase and managed to get away. it happened near 102 avenue and international boulevard. a man crashed the car and managed to run off. the passenger hit was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. time now 5:30. a man is in the hospital after being shot several times by

richmond police. it happened 5:00 yesterday afternoon. neighbors called the police saying an armed man was walking in the streets and when police arrived they saw an armed man behind an apartment building. >> officers were confronted with the armed suspect, shots were fired, the suspect was hit and he has been taken to the hospital in critical condition. >> now officers have been put on administrative leave which is department policy while the investigation continues. a debate over gun sales in los gatos drew a huge crowd at the town hall meeting. they will talk about why the controversy is not over yet, good morning janine de la vega. >> reporter: what came out of last night's meeting is that it is safe to operate but they did look at staff to put new policies in place.

at last night's council meeting it was packed with overflow. some were outraged because there was no town ordinance or public meeting about the newly opened store that sells guns. one person even made a death threat to the owner according to his attorney and they were holding up signs in support of that store for some and here is what was said. >> we can be an example and we can be one less... >> fact, the only thing that stops a crazy man with a gun is a good guy with a gun. good guy's can't get guns if they don't have stores like this to go to. >> they should come back to a future meeting for gun sales. a police process permit is required and a temporary moratorium will be held on gun

happened yesterday to slow down cars in this area and make sure people can safely get across the street. this high school freshman was hit while in the crosswalk and now he has severe swelling on his brain. he was walking to basketball practice at mt. diablo high school at 1:30 in the afternoon yesterday. he was thrown 30 feet in the air and landed on his head. the driver cooperated with police and investigators said she did not show any signs of impairment. still the boy said this is a dangerous intersection for pedestrians. >> reports that i got is that the person who hit him, did not even break. she just ran into him, he apparently hit the windshield and landed on his head. he actually looks good, but he

. a little bit of coast and bay, yesterday is clear, it's not as nice as yesterday low-to- mid 60s. here is a quick look at some of the top stories we are following at 5:43, this morning police in vallejo are searching for suspects in a terrifying shooting last night. one person was killed, four others were wounded. it happened on humbolt street and it is still not clear what led to those shootings. there was an early morning crash involving three cars. one car slammed into the guardrail just before, a street. a second car hit the back of

that nissan and the driver of that car fled and police are searching for him. a third car skimmed the back of that pileup and three people were taken to the hospital, one had critical injuries. and north korea said the latest nuclear test was only a first response to what they call u.s. threats. the government said they will continue with unspecified measures of greater intensity. they will meet at an emergency session which is a response to what they did. the thai government received information that al qaeda is planning on targeting the consulate. details have not been released but the extra security will last at least until sunday. happening now, the senate

armed services will discuss the impacts of cuts that it would have on the defense department. if congress does not act soon to avoid that, $85 billion in spending cuts are set to take place on march 1st. a bulk of those cuts will come on the military. in the meantime military has discussed benefits for same sex partners in the military and benefits are said to become available as early as august 31st. movie theaters support programs on basis and it shows the ability to fly on aircrafts. government authorities are meeting in washington d.c. talking about the future of the high speed railroad gram. this is part of a three day high speed rail summit with visionaries reviewing the high speed rail association's plan which lasts from 2015 to 2030.

. good morning, a little bit of patchy fog, areas are still mild closer to the coast and bay. excavations going on at a san joaquin valley well. so far crews have only found debris, no remains. that search of the well started five weeks ago and they have gone down more than 95 feet. more than a year ago the remains of three bodies and a fetus was found near that well. information from wesley howard shermantine prompted the fbi to begin that new search.

an alameda county judge had no obligation to save a downing man. zack waded out to the water on memorial day 2011. his foster mother had somebody call 911 and said he was suicidal. police watched from shore and they said he i don't know if he was violent and he drowned about an hour later. yesterday a federal judge denied the company's request which passed the february 28th deadline. the case starts with ken salazar to not renew the farm's lease. bay area restaurants are trying out a vegan burrito which comes from the soybeanry.
